Women learn to read and write through a literacy initiative supported by UN Women, in Nuristan province, eastern Afghanistan. As part of the initiative, 130 Village Literacy Committees were also established. By improving their literacy, the women can also strengthen their livelihoods, access to healthcare and build their resilience, in one of the most isolated and underserved provinces in Afghanistan.
